Poem: October 25th

Gloomy, Dark Friday
Week before Halloween
Decorations come out
Orange, black and green

The witches are flying
And skeletons dance
You find that wig that matches perfectly
With those bell bottom pants

Pumpkins get new faces
Their guts thrown in the trash
Somehow, every costume you see
Is showing more ass

There’s Pumpkin EVERYTHING
We even eat the seeds
Pumpkins are the turkeys of October
But it’s candy that I need!!!

Twix and butterfingers
Three musketeers, milky way
This diabetic would dive into a vat of chocolate
(Big sigh)…Maybe someday

But I digress
Week before Halloween
Sky gray and spooky
Trees shed their leaves

Then, tongue on hand
And cold, doggy nose
Happiness is a tail wag
A soft warm face, pressing close

You can give me October
The bare bones left of July
But I’ll keep my summer
Tucked away, just in case (Another Big Sigh.)

Poem: Halloween

Happy Halloween! If you decided to do my Halloween Poem Prompt, please let me know I’d be happy to read them! This is just my own silliness, but always fun!

Hope everyone has a great night!

A devilish grin

bats shriek

shutters clatter

an old door creaks

Pumpkins and spiders

crawl up your back

heart starts racing

branches clatter and snap

skeletons are dancing

bones shivering cold

witches and goblins

and buildings so old

Blood-dripping vampires

mummies and ghosts

monsters and zombies

(they scare me the most)

Kids trick-or-treating

things slimy and green

having fun being scared

now that’s Halloween!

Poem: Spooky Halloween

If you missed my idea for a Halloween poem prompt, you should check it out. All this week I’ve been trying to come up with ideas for the perfect Halloween poem, so I jotted some things down. Although, perfection is doubtful, it still entertains me.

Here’s something I came up with at work yesterday.

halloween-1702521_1280spiders crawling up your arm

cue the creepy music

black gunk dripping from the walls

dead-eyed faces scream and scream

such is the fear on Halloween

the blood, the horror

the uncertainty

the ghosts that float

the slime that creeps

a dark, black cloak

a restless sleep

aannd…that’s all I got. Oh well, a work in progress! How is your day so far?

Happy writing!

A Spooky Writing Prompt: Halloween Poem Challenge!

halloween-1702521_1280I had a thought while I was at work today: a Halloween poem challenge!

Well, basically this is just a writing prompt.

What if we all decided to write a Halloween-themed poem to be posted on Halloween? And I would love it if we could tag each other and share them!

They can be as spooky as you want them or not spooky at all, any style, rhyming or not…as long as they are Halloween-themed in some way.

I came up with a list of words at work today to get us started. These are some of the things I think about when I think of Halloween:

halloweenMaybe this list will get us started! And if you decide that you want to do this on your blog, let me know I’d love to read them!

What do you guys think?

Happy Halloween!!!

I know it has been a while since I posted last and I’m going to try to make up for it in the next coming weeks…

On another note, I recently acquired Photoshop again and I thought I’d do up a little something to celebrate. It’s amazing what you can do with just a picture, some paint tools, cut and paste, and filters. (Gotta love those filters!)

Anywho, enjoy!

halloweenThe black cat in this picture actually belongs to a friend of mine. Believe it or not, the cat really is about the size of a big pumpkin, he’s HUGE. He gets mad whenever I pick on his weight. It’s hilarious though, if you could see this cat waddle…

Anyway, hope everyone has a safe holiday!

And go crazy!! 😉 Have a good one!
